A Guide to Living a Happy, Fulfilled & Meaningful Life

Have I told you the story about when I had a complete breakdown during a vision board workshop?  Yes, I’m talking tears and blubbering in front of 10 other women I didn’t know.

Well – that’s pretty much the story, but I’ll back up a little bit.

Four years ago, I was living in a persistent state of unhappiness. My plate was full – too full.

I was working full-time in a high-level position with a 3 hour daily commute, taking classes to complete my master’s degree, and counseling & coaching 15-20 hours per week. Did I mention I had 2 children under 2 at home and a very underappreciated husband?

During this stressful time in my life - my girlfriend talked me into going to a Vision Board workshop one Friday night. She knew that I had lost some of my zeal for life and she thought the workshop would help replenish me.

It didn’t work.

Instead of finding passion and hope for my future – all I could do was feel guilt and stressed about my present. I ran to the bathroom and uncontrollable tears streamed down and the ugly face cry began.

I realized that I had lost touch with myself.

I had stopped following my purpose and started following a never-ending to-do list.

Until this moment – I had been numb in life. I had stopped listening to my heart and started listening to everyone else tell me what I ‘should’ be doing.


To paraphrase Martha Beck (Oprah’s Life Coach), “Pain comes from not following our true direction.”

In less woo-wooey terms, we therapists call this cognitive dissonance.

 “cognitive dissonance is the mental stress or discomfort experienced by an individual who holds two or more contradictory beliefs, ideas, or values at the same time; performs an action that is contradictory to their beliefs, ideas, or values”

I knew that I had to go back to the drawing board.

Since that time, I am happy to say that I live my life the way I want it…with passion and enthusiasm. I handle change easily, have peace in my heart and have a clear direction for my present and future.

My life changed so dramatically, that I started teaching the exact steps I used to my personal coaching and counseling clients with amazing results!

Since that time, my good friend and amazing psychologist – Dr. Elise Abromson – and I have been working together to put these steps into a simple 6-step Blueprint that can help anyone go from numb and unhappy to living a fulfilling, passionate and meaningful life.
